Maverick City Music’s Chandler Moore just celebrated almost two years of sobriety — and “the love that God restored” in him during this time of recovery.

“I checked into rehab in Nov 2023,” he shared in an Instagram post. “It’s been almost 2 years…& today, for the first time since then, I went thru some letters that I received from my family when I was there. Some of them I hadn’t even opened up until today because I was so ashamed of where I was.”

Moore continued, “Those 40 days in the wilderness wrecked me in the best and worst ways. I met myself in the most painful, yet most beautiful way. I met God in a way that stripped me down. I found people who didn’t flinch at my story. And God Himself walked into the pit with me and refused to leave until I could breathe again.”

The singer explained that there was some past “trauma” he had to unpack, as well as reckoning with “the pain and reckless choices” he made as an adult, “but this month, I’ve been celebrating the love of God that restored me and still shows up every single day as I walk in recovery.”

“I see it in the way Hannah [his wife] and my family stood beside me in my darkest moments. I see it in the way my friends held me up when I had nothing left to give,” Moore wrote. “The next phase of music is born out of all of this…pain and revival, loss and sacrifice, love and authenticity.”

He concluded, “THE LOVE OF GOD IS REAL. IM STILL ALIVE BC OF HIM. GOD IM JUST GRATEFUL FOR U.”

Moore often shares encouraging messages with his social media followers. In one recent post, he wrote, “Sometimes we let go of people when they fail…not always because their failure is too big, but because it gets a little too close to home.”

“But we miss out on so much when we move away too quickly,” Moore continued. “When we choose to stay instead of pull back, something really powerful happens. That failure becomes a space for honesty.”

He finished, “We all need reminders that being human [and] failing isn’t a disqualifier. It’s actually the starting place for grace.”

The singer-songwriter also recently celebrated his third No. 1 hit on the Billboard charts, with single “Lead Me On.”

“I’m truly grateful for this moment,” he told Billboard of the achievement. “Seeing how ‘Lead Me On’ has touched hearts means so much to me. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey — this has been really special.”

Moore’s recent post is an inspiration to anyone else who might be struggling with substance abuse, as well as a reminder that faith and love will help you overcome all obstacles.
