Tim Tebow encouraged his fans to pursue the kingdom of heaven with as much vigor as they run after everything else worthwhile in life.
“One of my biggest fears is that my life would end, God would call me home and I would show up to heaven well-rested. There will be a lot of people that know and love Jesus and love people that get to heaven well-rested. I wanna get to heaven exhausted,” Tebow said. “I do wholeheartedly, totally believe rest is biblical…I believe a lot of that is resting with God, spending time with Him, focused on Him; that the world’s not the priority. Jesus is the priority. But, with that said, rest is biblical. But so is run. And I almost never hear it preached.”
“I believe the word trechó, which is run in the New Testament, is used, I think, 20 times in the New Testament, and it means to advance speedily like an athlete moving forward with full effort and a directed purpose,” the former NFL player continued. “And we see Paul use it all the time.”

“We are to run the race that is set before us. Get rid of the sin and the weight that so easily entangles us and run with endurance. But when God calls us to run: Run. God didn’t call us to meander, to jog,” he urged. “If we honestly look at it, how many people do we know…where we say, it’s full effort and a directed purpose that you have run harder for the cause of Christ, for the suffering people, for the hope of humanity, than you have your job, for fame, for all the other things?”
Tebow certainly lives out this call as he pursues ministry in everything he does. His nonprofit, the Tim Tebow Foundation works tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable people across the world and meets those suffering in a variety of ways.
While Tebow and his foundation have actively saved thousands and helped even more recognize their inherent value, he also uses his platform to share God’s word and encourage those living more comfortable lives to take their faith seriously, and pursue the path the Lord has set out for them.
“I believe every single one of us has a mission,” Tebow said in April of 2024. “What does ‘mission’ mean? Mission means a task or a job someone is given to do, but its origin actually means to be sent.”
“I believe every single one of us has been sent here for a reason. No matter if we feel equipped, or if we feel too young or too old. If you have breath, you have purpose, you have a mission,” he added.
Therefore, while rest is a part of a healthy Christian life, so is hard work to bring the kingdom of heaven to earth and to daily reveal God’s glory to those around us.
