The original actors for Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Don Rickles and Estelle Harris, respectively, have passed away, so new voices will be replacing them in TOY STORY 5.

Total Film reported LOONEY TUNES star Jeff Bergman will takeover Mr. Potato Head, and BATMAN animated series star Anna Vocino will be the Mrs.

Rickles actually died after the third movie, however, Disney and Pixar were able use his voice recordings for TOY STORY 4. Original stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack will return as Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie.

As they toys’ current owner, Bonnie, has grown into an 8-year-old, she’s also been recast. The character was 4 when we first saw her in TOY STORY 3. WICKED FOR GOOD actress Scarlett Spears will voice Bonnie for TOY STORY 5.

ComicBook reported the new characters and their actors in TOY STORY 5 are Greta Lee as Lilypad, Craig Robinson as Atlas, Conon O’Brian as Smarty Pants, Matty Matheson as Dr. Nutcase, Shelby Rabara as Snappy, Mykal-Michelle Harries as Blaze and Melissa Villaseñor as Karen Beverly.

It’s uncertain whether these characters will return: Giggle McDimples, Ducky & Bunny, Andy and Gabby Gabby.

In 2024, Allen revealed which toys the movie will focus on.

“I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie,” Allen said in an interview. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyear. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”

He added, “it’s a very, very clever story. I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s really clever.”

The new movie focuses on technology’s role in children’s lives.

Director Andrew Stanton said, “In TOY STORY 5, the toys’ jobs get exponentially harder when our toy crew goes head to head with what kids are obsessed with today: electronics.”

The trailer shows Bonnie’s new toy, a tablet called Lilypad. It appears to be war — toys vs. tech.

“Toys are for play…but tech is for everything,” Woody sadly utters in the trailer. Jessie adds, “I’m losing Bonnie to this device.”

In good ole Woody spirit (who returns to Bonnie after leaving in TOY STORY 4), he’s ready to rally the crew, guns blazing.

TOY STORY 5 will hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
