THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS actor Jordi Vilasuso and his wife, Kaitlin, are asking for prayer after their newborn daughter entered the NICU due to a partially collapsed lung.

“Ah friends… we come to you coveting prayers yet again,” the couple posted on Instagram on Jan. 25. “I feel like all I do is ask you all for prayers or thank you for prayers. I suppose that is just the season we’re in right now.”

“We found out Monday that Lucy had RSV and by Monday night she had been admitted to the hospital w/ difficulty breathing,” they continued. “Last night, things unexpectedly took a turn for the worse and she was moved to NICU w/ what the doctors prescribed as a partially collapsed right lung. I am still struggling to believe this as I type.”

“Please, please pray with us for miraculous healing for Lucy’s precious little body. We love her so much and just want her home and happy in our arms,” they added.

“Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract,” according to the Mayo Clinic. It is a common disease that most people have contracted by the age of 2. The sickness rarely requires hospitalization in those without pre-existing health conditions.

The couple shared a positive update on the 30th, revealing that Lucy’s condition has improved and her right lung is starting to heal.

“Our little Lucy is proving to be quite the little fighter,” the couple said in the update. “The biggest praise report is that the x-ray of her lungs looked significantly better than the one they took the night she was transferred to the NICU – PRAISE GOD.”

“We still have a lot of big prayer to pray for her, though, and would be so so grateful if you join us in continuing to lift her up,” the update continued. “She is still on the CPAP machine, but we are praying that as they try to wean her off of it, her pulse ox and respiratory rate stay strong and the CO2 in her blood continues to decrease.”

“We are beyond grateful for the positive progress, but physically exhausted from the past week, emotionally exhausted for our girl… Praying for strength for whatever the rest of this journey to healing looks like,” the couple added. “Thank you for loving us and caring about our babies like you do. As always, we are forever grateful??❤️.”

Please keep Lucy and the Vilasusos in your prayers as the newborn continues the fight to recover from RSV.
