CNN’s Don Lemon Challenges Christ’s Perfect Life and Sacrifice

By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor

CNN’s Don Lemon said on air that Jesus Christ was not perfect when He walked on Earth.

“Jesus Christ — if that’s who you believe in, Jesus Christ — admittedly was not perfect when he was here on this earth,” said Lemon. “So why are we deifying the founders of this country?”

At the time of his comments, Lemon was talking to CNN’s Chris Cuomo, who recently said America doesn’t need God.

Lemon’s comments are anything but biblically sound.

2 Corinthians 5:21 specifically says “God made him who had no sin” in reference to Jesus.

Also consider when John the Baptist, Jesus’s cousin, said he wasn’t worthy to untie Jesus’ sandals in Mark 1. John the Baptist recognized Jesus’s divinity so much so that he was hesitant to baptize Jesus until He said otherwise.

Similarly, in Philippians 2, Paul discusses Jesus’ humility in His obedience to God the Father who is perfect (Matthew 5:48). In the passage, Paul states that Jesus humbled Himself on the cross for the sins of the world. As a result, God blesses Jesus’ obedience with the honest honor.

Philippians 2:9-11 reads, “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

When public figures like Lemon makes these types of comments, the devil laughs at our culture’s mockery of the Lord.

Our culture’s disdain for God extends greater than even Hollywood these day…

Blessedly, Jesus’ perfect life made him the ultimate sacrifice that covers all our sins — even Lemon’s. It’s Christ’s perfect legacy that allows us to be with Him in eternity. All we have to do is call upon the name of the Lord to be saved.
