CNN Anchor Chris Cuomo Says America Doesn’t Need God

By Allyson Vannatta, Senior Writer

CNN’s Chris Cuomo ended a recent program telling viewers that America doesn’t need God; that what we need is within us.

“If you believe in one another and if do the right thing for yourself and your community, things will get better in this country. You don’t need help from above. It’s within us,” he said while pointing a finger to the sky.

Cuomo, who claims to be Catholic, is the brother to New York governor Andrew Cuomo. Andrew Cuomo, early on in the coronavirus pandemic, said that, “God did not do that [bring the numbers down]. Faith did not do that. Destiny did not do that. A lot of pain and suffering did that . . . That’s how it works.”

These comments from the Cuomo brothers should be a warning siren for Christians that not only do we need prayer for our country, but we need prayer for these prominent people in power and in the media.

People all over America are turning to hate when what we need is to love each other like Jesus loves us. His love is what will ultimately bring us together.

America needs prayer and faith in God right now more than ever.

The Bible is full of examples of people thinking they don’t need God and, spoiler alert, it never works out in their favor.

Instead, we need to be in constant prayer to the Father about the hardships we’re facing in every area of our life because God cares.

1 John 5 tells readers that He knows and hears our prayers. So, let’s lift our voices in prayer instead of lifting up our own agendas.
