Jeremy Renner wants to bring Hawkeye back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2 and do other things,” he told Empire Magazine of his HAWKEYE show on Disney+. “And I’m happy to do it.”
“My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights,” Renner quipped.
In 2023, the actor was pulled under a 14,300 lb snowplow, resulting in numerous broken bones and surgeries. Since then, he’s worked hard to build his body back so that he could return to a physically demanding role like Hawkeye.
“I’m more than 150% of what I was prior to the incident…Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that’s what’s gotten me back,” he shared. “And even as I age, I just feel stronger than I’ve been. I have some issues, and tendon issues and certain limitations of flexibility and mobility, but I spent a lot of time on getting better and stronger, and I wouldn’t if I didn’t get crushed.”
“I’m always happy to be in that world, man,” he said of the MCU. “I love all those guys, I love the character.”
While Marvel hasn’t shared anything official about a second season, Renner has stayed busy, recently publishing a book titled My Next Breath: A Memoir that documents his accident.
“This retelling is not merely a gruesome account of what happened to him; it’s a call to action and a forged companionship between reader and author as Jeremy recounts his recovery journey and reflects on the impact of his suffering,” its synopsis reads. “Ultimately, Jeremy’s memoir is a testament to the human spirit and its capacity to endure, evolve, and find purpose in the face of unimaginable adversity. His writing captures the essence of profound transformation, exploring the delicate interplay between vulnerability and strength, despair and hope, redemption and renewal.”
Shortly after it released, Renner’s memoir made it on the New York Times Bestsellers list.
“This just happened today !!! I’m am overwhelmed and overjoyed by one of the greatest shared experiences of my life …. Thank you for enduring with me and my family. We love you all that share this journey,” he wrote on Instagram.
