Country Star Beat Cancer and Gained an Eternal Perspective

Country singer John Berry is sharing the lessons he’s learned through his cancer battle.
The musician is doing well after a five-year fight with throat cancer. “If I’m on the path, if I’m walking the path that God wants me on, it’s all OK,” he told Fox News of his perspective amid his health struggles.
“He’s got me here for a reason,” Berry added. “And, so I think that that’s really important. And then, of course, God gives me a family. Careers come and go, you know? Careers change. Family? Not so much. And at least you hope not.”
“It’s really important to make those commitments to family and make those relationships work,” he added.
Cancer put life into perspective for Berry, so he’s sharing what he learned.
Along with practical tips like “Make the bed when you get up in the morning” or music career-focused lessons, like “Don’t look at the empty seats” and “Leave the audience wanting more,” Berry always comes back to the importance of faith and family.
“Prioritize your life in order of God, family, then career,” he explained. “We have a wonderful Savior who came to this Earth for us. God sent His Son, who died on a cross for our sins, to make a way for us to come to Him. There’s joy in that.”
While careers change and “Most of the people you worked with will not care about you after that, really – or very, very few,” family lasts forever.
Faith, family and friends are “the three most important things in life.”
Earlier this year, Berry shared his faith through his new album, “Find My Joy.”
It “features his unmistakable voice that has garnered Platinum records and 20 hit singles. The uplifting and exhilarating project was arranged and produced by multi-award-winning producer and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee, Steve Dorff and distributed by Gaither Music Group,” his website shares.
The singer is also gearing up for his 28th annual Christmas With John Berry Tour, which starts Nov. 29 in Georgia.
Twenty-eight years have passed, and I could never have imagined the incredible blessing of sharing my music and celebrating the birth of Christ on this journey,” said Berry. “It means the world for Robin and I to see so many of you return year after year with your loved ones and friends, all coming together to embrace the joy of the season. I look forward to sharing this time of giving with each of you and am forever grateful for your continued support.”
