A new company founded by ex-Navy SEALs uses the power of AI to protect public spaces like churches and schools from potential shootings.

“We are a team of military veterans who
are passionate about protecting our country,” their website reads. “As veterans and parents, ZeroEyes’ co-founders were compelled to develop a proactive solution to keep people safe after seeing and hearing about mass shootings occurring in schools and other public places, and the impact they have on our society.”

They continued, “Drawing from over 50 years of collective military experience, we provide military-grade intelligence monitoring to facilities like schools, commercial buildings, and defense sites.”

ZeroEyes co-founder Rob Huberty spoke to CBN about the company’s technology, explaining, “We take your existing video cameras, and we process every frame-by-frame, every image, every video feed that you have. We use our AI that goes over them and what it does is it looks for guns that are exposed.”

“We view ourselves not as the total solution, but as a layer that makes sense,” he continued. “There’s no facial recognition, there’s no predictive analytics, we’re just looking for an object, which is a gun.”

ZeroEyes’ system has already been put into place in many public spaces, including Temple University.

“We are very excited about ZeroEyes’ ability to provide rapid detection and intelligence involving brandished guns on our campus,” Jennifer Griffin, Temple’s chief of police and vice president for public safety, said in a statement. “ZeroEyes is another piece of technology we have implemented that not only makes the Temple community safer, but also makes the city safer. There is no doubt about it: Philadelphia and Temple have a growing partnership in safety, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes, said, “We commend Temple University for being a trailblazer for safety here on the East Coast. We look forward to working closely with the staff to make sure that students and faculty feel safe and are protected against gun-related violence.”

California’s Valley Baptist Church is also preparing to roll out ZeroEyes’ tech.

“People want to do us harm, and when I say us, I mean, men and women, the Christian faith…because we live in a broken world,” the church’s safety director, Matt Montana, told CBN. “There’s a lot of sin out there and the innocence is preyed upon.”

He continued, “What we’re doing here, that, in itself, may deter somebody who has thoughts of doing harm to people at Valley Baptist Church.”
