Faith-Based Musical A WEEK AWAY to Come to Netflix

Faith-based musical A WEEK AWAY will come to Netflix in 2020, making it the first Christian musical for the streaming giant.
“[‘A Week Away’] is going to be one of the first, if not the first faith-based movie that they have literally acquired to be a Netflix original. What an honor. Super privileged!” said producer, writer and creator of A WEEK AWAY, Alan Powell to the Christian Post.
A WEEK AWAY was slated to come to theaters, but with the coronavirus, plans changed.
“This was always the dream. I was so excited when Netflix responded and said, ‘We’d like to distribute this movie,” said Powell.
“Netflix would be the [best] home because my desire is that this becomes similar to other brands that we love,” said Powell. “Whether it be ‘High School Musicals,’ characters that we grasp on to, where it’s not necessarily specifically about the film, but it’s about this experience and these characters and the music and all this kind of stuff.”
A WEEK AWAY star is longtime Movieguide® friend Bailee Madison (COWGIRLS N ANGELS), David Koechner (ANCHORMAN) and Sherri Shepard (ONE FOR THE MONEY).
Kevin Quinn, who starred in the Movieguide® Award nominated movie A CHRISTMAS LOVE STORY, appears opposite Madison as the lead.
Madison shared her excitement for the upcoming project on Instagram.
“My dream of combining singing/dancing with my love for acting has come true- I’m also immensely excited & humbled to be an associate producer. ❤️ this is a special one… congratulations to our entire cast & crew,” said Madison.
A WEEK AWAY is currently in post-production and slated to come to Netflix later this year.
