FATHER OF THE BRIDE Stars to Gather for Virtual Reunion

By Allyson Vannatta, Senior Writer

Netflix is set to host a FATHER OF THE BRIDE reunion this week.

The news comes after Netflix tweeted a teaser video and news of the reunion on Tuesday.

The tweet shows what seems to be George Banks checking his email and, at the end, text that says, “25 years later, the Banks family returns for a special event to benefit World Central Kitchen.”

The reunion is set to take place this Friday on Netflix’s YouTube and Facebook pages at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.

Director Nancy Myers also teased the reunion on her Instagram page. In the caption, she wrote “If he thought a wedding was a lot, how would he react to 2020? Coming soon to the phone in your hand!”

World Central Kitchen’s, the non-profit organization the reunion is benefiting, has a mission to provide meals for those who have experienced natural disasters.

Part of their mission statement reads, “I hope you’ll dream with us as we envision a world where there is always a warm meal, an encouraging word, and a helping hand in hard times.”

Movieguide® enjoyed both THE FATHER OF THE BRIDE and its 1995 sequel.

The FATHER OF THE BRIDE review says the movie “affirms old-fashioned family values, though there is one exclamatory profanity and some sexual innuendo. Aside from these flaws, FATHER OF THE BRIDE is a heart-warming father-daughter story that reflects family life in the 1990s.”

Movieguide®’s review of FATHER OF THE BRIDE PART II states the movie “Is a funny, entertaining, positive portrait of a traditional family produced with exquisite love and compassion.” It continues, “Every element of FATHER OF THE BRIDE PART II has been crafted to perfection. It lifts up the family and the father in a positive, entertaining way that has never been done in film before.”

Both movies star Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Martin Short.

Movieguide® previously reported that, earlier this year, Meyers brought the cast of her hit movie THE PARENT TRAP together for a reunion.
