LOVE ISLAND USA contestant Hannah Smith explained how her life radically changed in recent months as she got sober and also started a relationship with God, including getting baptized in February.
“For some time now, it’s been on my heart to share how much my life has changed. The past few months have brought changes I never imagined…In 2024, I was on a reality TV show. From the outside, it looked like a dream. But behind the scenes, I was struggling,” Smith wrote on a lengthy Instagram post. “Being in the public eye opened the door to both praise and pain — love from strangers, but also judgement, hate, and ridicule. As the year came to a close, my life felt like it was falling apart.”
“I found myself in a dark place, where doubts crept in…I struggled with constantly comparing myself to others…But over time, I’ve learned that comparison truly is the thief of joy. It robs you of peace and blinds you to the beauty of your own journey…” Smith continued. “Social media became a dreaded place. I struggled with extreme anxiety. I didn’t leave my house for months. I felt completely lost. But even in that darkness…something inside me knew there was more to my story. So I started over.”
In that chaos, the Lord met Smith and helped her rebuild her life from the ground up. She found her foundation in Him, rather than the shifting tides of this world. This has made all the difference in her life, allowing her to step into becoming a new person.
“I stepped away from the noise. I got off social media. I began volunteering. I’ve now been sober from alcohol for 8 months. And most importantly — I formed my relationship with God,” Hannah Smith said. “I started going to church. And on February 9th, 2025…I was baptized.”
“That moment changed everything,” she proclaimed. “I realized God never left me. Even when I ran, He stayed — waiting, loving — not just to forgive, but to heal…What was once my shame is now my glory. I’m forever grateful for what I went through, because in my season of sorrow, God saved me and didn’t leave me like I was.”

Hannah Smith’s radical life transformation came after she was arrested in September for obstructing a law officer after being escorted off a property for disorderly conduct, per E! News. She pleaded not guilty to the charges in March and is set to face a jury trial this June.
Clearly this event woke her up to where her life was headed as her transformation and walk with the Lord started shortly after. It is amazing to see just how quickly God can change someone’s life when they commit themselves to Him and allow Him to have His way.
