Jim Caviezel Makes Singing Debut

By Movieguide® Staff

Jim Caviezel just made his singing debut.

The SOUND OF FREEDOM actor joined Raymond Arroyo’s “Christmas Merry & Bright” tour on Dec. 3, where they performed “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

The actor, best known for his role as Jesus in THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, made a surprise appearance at the concert dressed as Santa Claus.

“You have sung Christmas songs about Jesus, but has he ever sung one for you? Here’s the next best thing,” Arroyo said before Caviezel took off the Santa costume.

The pair sang the iconic Christmas song, including its original lyrics, with Arroyo’s jazz orchestra.

Arroyo just wrapped up his Christmas tour, which promoted his latest album, “Christmas Merry & Bright.”

The album landed at No. 2 on Billboard’s Traditional Jazz Album chart and No. 4 on the Seasonal Albums chart.

While Caviezel is best known for his acting, this wasn’t his first time singing in front of an audience. In 2012, he performed “If You Leave Me Now” with the rock band Chicago.

The actor has had a big year following the surprise success of summer release SOUND OF FREEDOM.

The movie grossed over $238,520,275 worldwide, defying Hollywood’s expectations and outperforming other summer releases like INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE — DEAD RECKONING PART ONE.

“I’d like to, first of all, thank Angel [Studios], Harmon brothers, Jordan, Neil, Jeff, for being extra brilliant. For believing in us and having to overcome the fact that saving children should never be a controversy. It should be the quickest thing that any of us would ever do,” Caviezel said on X shortly after its release.

“I’m sitting here thinking about all of you amazing Americans that are fighting a battle and helping us in this war against the greatest evil that has ever been because you know that God’s children are not for sale,” he added.

Movieguide® celebrated SOUND OF FREEDOM’s moral, Christian worldview that emphasizes sacrificing oneself for others.

Part of the review reads:

SOUND OF FREEDOM follows the inspiring true story of Tim Ballard, a former government agent who puts his life on the line to rescue hundreds of children from sex trafficking. After an operation that saves a young boy from trafficking, Tim learns the boy’s sister has also been sold into the sex trade. At first, he continues to operate under Homeland Security, but when funds run out, he takes matters into his own hands. With the help of a small team, Tim launches an investigation to save the boy’s sister, save many other children and bring the perpetrators to justice.

SOUND OF FREEDOM is gripping and heartbreaking, but hope-giving. The movie sheds light on the need for strong people to stand up for God’s children around the world who are caught in the vicious, abusive system of sex trafficking. SOUND OF FREEDOM has a strong Christian, moral worldview that promotes sacrifice and the message that “God’s children are not for sale.” MOVIEGUIDE® advises strong and extreme caution for the movie’s mature subject matter, implied and depicted violence, and abuse of children.
