JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM Releases on Netflix This Month

By Movieguide® Contributor

JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM, the 2023 musical that tells the story of the Nativity, will arrive on Netflix this month.

“A young woman carrying an unimaginable responsibility. A young man torn between love and honour. A jealous king who will stop at nothing to keep his crown. This live-action Christmas musical celebration for the entire family, weaves classic Christmas melodies into new pop songs in a music-infused retelling of the timeless story of Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus,” a summary of the musical reads.

It will be available to stream on Netflix on Feb. 8 for 18 months.

Director Adam Anders posted, “Let’s go! @netflix just announced #journeytobethlehem is coming out in February 8th!!! Go stream it and let’s make it go top 10!!! #netflix #director #christmasinfebruary”

JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM premiered in theaters on Nov. 10. During its opening weekend, the movie earned $2,400,446 and scored a total revenue of over $6 million.

It stars Fiona Palomo, Milo Manheim, Lecrae, Joel Smallbone and Antonio Banderas.

JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM has been nominated for Movieguide®’s Epiphany Prize® Movies and Best Movies for Families awards. Actors Palomo and Smallbone have been nominated for the Grace Prize® for Movie Performance.

Part of Movieguide®’s review reads:

JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM is a great musical with lots of jeopardy and some funny comic relief to lighten the mood. The songs are really good, and so are the performances. Although this is a musical version of the Nativity Story, the filmmakers treat the birth of Jesus with the proper reverence it deserves. The script and song lyrics refer to Jesus as Lord, the Son of God, the Messiah, King of all kings, Immanuel, and “God with us.” JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM is one of the most enjoyable, uplifting movies of 2023.

Per Movieguide®, “Great American Family stars Danica McKellar and Trevor Donovan are set to host the 31st Annual MovieGuide® Awards Gala, Friday, February 9 at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood, CA. MovieGuide® honors the best in family-friendly entertainment across linear, streaming, and theatrical films and will be broadcast exclusively on Great American Family, Thursday, March 7 (8 p.m. ET).”
