Kate Middleton Visits Patients at Hospital Where She Was Treated: ‘There Is Light’

Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, recently returned to the hospital where she received treatment after being diagnosed with cancer last year.
“The princess wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world leading care and treatment the Marsden provides,” a statement from the palace reads.
Middleton met with patients who are currently undergoing treatment for cancer at The Royal Marsden. She did not publicly disclose the details of her diagnosis or treatment but shared a video message in September saying she is “cancer free.”

The princess joked with a patient that she “got so attached” to the port used for her chemotherapy, saying she even hesitated when she was told, “You can have it taken out now,” per PEOPLE.
She asked another patient, “I had to do it privately and quietly but being on a ward like this has to be reassuring in a way?”
Middleton also shared a statement about her visit on X, writing, “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year.”
“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything,” she continued. “We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”
The princess concluded, “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. C.”
