Kathie Lee Gifford Shares Scripture With Friend Hoda Kotb Amid TODAY Exit

By Movieguide® Contributor

Kathie Lee Gifford shared some scripture with longtime friend and co-host Hoda Kotb as part of her TODAY show farewell celebrations.

Kotb announced she was leaving TODAY WITH HODA & JENNA in September, writing, “I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.”

“I think I want to send her off with what she knows from my heart means most to me is that I’m sending you off with a prayer,” Gifford said during her appearance on the final episode of TODAY WITH HODA & JENNA. “In Jeremiah, it says ‘I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, and to give you a future, and hope.’”

Gifford shared one more verse, as well: “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

Gifford posted about Kotb’s TODAY exit on X in September, writing, “Bittersweet news as my dear friend @hodakotb steps away from the Today Show. Her warmth, laughter, and incredible spirit have brightened our mornings and touched countless hearts. Here’s to new adventures!”

“[It will] involve retreats and a podcast and all kinds of things that we can get together [and do],” she explained. “It’s not like going to Mexico with your girls, which is fun, but something that when you leave, you’ll go like, ‘Oh my gosh, I feel transformed. I feel different.’”
