The stage is set for the 2024 NBA Finals.

Beginning today, Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks will face Jason Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics for a chance at the NBA Finals Championship.

The Mavericks’ PJ Washington leaning on his faith as his team enters the finals.

A defensive threat on the court and known to knock down clutch 3s, Washington, “along with starting center Daniel Gafford, joined the Mavericks at the trade deadline on Feb. 8. Washington was traded from the Charlotte Hornets while Gafford was sent over by the Washington Wizards,” Sports Spectrum reported.

This championship run is the first of Washington’s career. When asked what that means to him and the trade this season he couldn’t help but express gratitude.

“Just the way the city embraces me,” he explained in a press conference. “Everybody’s supportive. Everybody’s there for me each and every game…It’s just been all love since I got here, so I’d give anything for this team and this organization, and it’s just great to have that same energy from the fans as well.”

Aside from fitting right with the team, Washington is also a firm believer in the Lord and often praises God during press conferences.

“It’s the reason I’m here,” he added. “He’s done so much for me, and I’m just thankful and forever grateful. I feel like the closer I get to Him, things just start getting a lot better for me.”

After securing the Western Conference Finals win, Washington shared a photo and gave all the credit to God.

“GOD DID,” he wrote.
