NBA Champion, Finals MVP and nine-time All-Star Steph Curry is taking his talents to the small screen.

Curry officially made his comedic debut in the Peacock-backed show MR. THROWBACK.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “The comedy sees Adam Pally as Danny Grossman, a down-on-his-luck memorabilia dealer who looks for redemption by reuniting with his sixth-grade teammate, basketball legend Curry, who plays himself on screen.

“In MR. THROWBACK, Curry aims to help his middle school buddy get redemption,” the outlet continued. ‘”Let’s do a documentary on it,’ he says at one point in the trailer. That has the former school buddies joyously traveling on Curry’s private jet and sharing pre-game horse placenta drinks, called ‘placenta-ritas.'”

Curry shared the trailer on his Instagram, writing, “It’s almost here ?? Here’s your first look at #MrThrowback, coming to @peacock on August 8!”

Many of Curry’s fans commented their excitement for the new show.

“Oh my goat acting now ! GIVE HIM AN OSCAR,” one follower wrote.

Another said, “Can’t wait to watch! Oh yeah man ??.”

Ego Nwodim, who plays the director of the documentary in the show, says in the trailer, “People love a redemption story. But you know what people love more? A trainwreck.”

“I was excited to step into the world of scripted comedy with MR. THROWBACK, a story with love for family and friends at its center,” Curry said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to viewers getting to see me play a version of myself no one has ever seen before and hope they feel connected to the characters and the dilemmas they face throughout the series.”

“I am honored to have joined Adam, Ego, Ayden and the producing team of David Caspe, Matthew Libman, Daniel Libman and David Wain to create this series along with Erick Peyton steering the ship at Unanimous Media,” he added.

Movieguide® previously reported on Curry:

NBA star Steph Curry has always been open about his Christian faith, even sporting a Bible verse from Philippians 4:13 (“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”) on his shoes. However, the basketball player recently revealed another verse that’s meant a lot to him.

While appearing on The High Note podcast, Curry revealed that the New Testament’s Romans 8:28 has been very important to him over the years.

The verse reads, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Curry explained that his mom was the base of his strong Christian faith, taking them to church and Bible studies.
