Can the NFL Snag Female Fans? They’re Going to Try

The NFL is looking to gain more younger, female fans, and the new deal they just signed with Betches Media might just help get them. 

Betches Media “is a multimedia brand developed and run for women, by women,” its website reads. “Through our website, podcasts, newsletters, events, and social channels, we create content that empowers women to say [what] is actually on their minds. We’ve cultivated a loyal audience who comes to us for witty commentary, sage advice, and brutal honesty.”

Now, Betches is teaming up with the NFL, producing content that is expected to start rolling out with the 2025 Pro Bowl Games in February.

“By teaming up with Betches, we’re creating content that bridges the NFL and culture in a way that resonates with their audience’s unique perspective,” Anna DeLucia, the NFL’s senior manager of business development and strategic investments, said. “Whether you’re cheering every Sunday or new to football, this relationship invites women into the NFL conversation in a way that’s fun, approachable and engaging.”

This move is part of Betches’ latest moves into the world of sports. The website recently launched Betches Sports, “a cross-platform effort to cater to not just women’s sports but women as sports fans,” per Slate. 

“It’s been in the back of our minds for a bit now, against the landscape of women’s sports becoming so, so popular over the last few years,” Betches CEO Aleen Dreksler told the outlet. “It’s so great that it’s really piercing the zeitgeist. It’s not just within the sports industry, but it’s really in pop culture now, and people don’t have any choice to look away, which is really, really amazing.”

Dreksler continued, “I think that we’re offering something that felt like a need for a while, and I believe that Betches is really the one to do it. We’re an entertainment powerhouse. Sports is a cornerstone part of entertainment in culture, and it’s squarely in our wheelhouse. And my goal is for Betches Sports to be one of the largest sports media brands for women globally. I know that’s a big vision, but I had the same vision for Betches as a brand, and here we are.”
