- Content: Roma Downey ‘Incredibly Grateful’ for United States: ‘I Love America’

Roma Downey is sharing her gratitude for the American Dream as she reflects on her career.
“They say, ‘You can take the girl out of Ireland, but you can’t take Ireland out of the girl,’” the actress shared. “And I think that’s true, but I love America, and America has been so good to me.”
Downey continued, “I’m so incredibly grateful to this country. My children are all American-born and my husband and I are both American citizens. We make our home between Southern California and the great state of Utah.”
The TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL star made her Irish heritage the focus of her latest book, “A Message in the Moon.”
“When I left Ireland to go to college, my dad took me outside and pointed to the moon and he said, ‘Listen, if you ever get homesick, if you miss me, you got to remember that it’s the same moon that’s shining down on you, is shining down on me. So, we’re always connected by the same moon and if you’re missing me, I will leave you a message in the moon,’” Downey explained. “Even though my father is long gone, he passed away many years ago, I still pick up his messages of love with the moon.”
Up next for Downey? THE BAXTERS, a new series coming to Prime Video. It is produced by LightWorkers Media, Downey’s entertainment company.
Per Deadline, “THE BAXTERS follows Elizabeth and John Baxter and their five adult children. Season 1 centers on Elizabeth and John’s daughter, Kari, who learns the shocking truth that her professor husband, Tim, has been secretly having an affair with one of his college students. As her relationship is tested, Kari must seek comfort in her faith and family to discover if love is truly a choice and if her marriage can be redeemed. In this deeply moving faith-based journey, The Baxters must come together as a family to work through the challenges of life.”

Prime Video just announced its new spring release—THE BAXTERS.
“The series stars and is executive produced by actress, producer, and New York Times best-selling author Roma Downey as the family matriarch, Elizabeth Baxter,” Patheos reported. “Also starring is Ted McGinley (SHRINKING, MARRIED…WITH CHILDREN) as John Baxter. THE BAXTERS is slated to stream spring 2024 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.”
“The deal with Prime Video comes as Amazon has heightened its focus on faith-based, family-friendly, and uplifting series and movies,” Variety reported.
The series is based on Karen Kingsbury’s best-selling series that follows the lives of Elizabeth and John Baxter and their five adult children.
“In this deeply moving faith-based journey, The Baxters must come together as a family to work through the challenges of life,” Patheos reported.
