Social Media Influencers Share Testimony of God’s Faithfulness After House Fire

A young, vibrant couple with a baby on the way found themselves fighting for their lives on May 24 after they woke up in the middle of a house fire.
Rachel and Travis Standfest shared their testimony on their social media accounts.
The couple accredits God’s faithfulness through their entire journey.
Rachel wrote, “On Wednesday, May 24th our lives changed forever. We woke up to a house fire and had to quickly find a way out of a 2 story building. I made it out of the window, and Travis ran down the stairs through the fire. We both sustained severe burns, and I had a brain injury.”
In addition to their injuries, Rachel had to ensure her baby was safe.
She continued, “Once we got to the hospital I had an emergency C-section to make sure our little girl was safe. Once we were conscious and able we got to meet our baby girl. Brynlee Rose is here, healthy and she is fearfully and wonderfully made!”
“We have been overwhelmed with love, support, and prayer. We have seen God work in ways we couldn’t even imagine. Including when we figured out the meaning of her name,” Rachel expressed. Travis and I have had it as her name since we found out she was a girl. Then when we announced her name to our family the first time we were shocked once again as God blew us all away. Brynlee means ‘burned clearing’ and a balance between darkness and light. This little baby, who was known by God before she was here, was claimed by Him and protected by Him. Her name is just one more way that God was able to prove that his hand has been in this all along. That he never left, and that he has always protected all of us. Finding strength has been getting hard as we are still in the hospital, but we will never stop giving God the glory. We are all alive and okay and count our blessings daily.”
On June 24, Rachel gave the world an update through pictures and videos of their progress.
She wrote, “A little look into our journey this past month. We still have a long road of recovery, but we are so blessed with where we are today. We would not be alive today without the goodness and faithfulness of God. We can’t thank the firefighters, nurses, and doctors enough for everything they have done for us. Even though our future plans are not what we expected, we are blessed to have and share the testimony we now have.”
She included Isaiah 43:2, which reads, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”
She concluded. “God is SO good!!”
Then on July 7, Rachel and Travis went back to the empty lot that once housed all the memories they’ve ever had together.
“Miracles happen every day,” Rachel wrote. “Today we went back to where everything happened. We didn’t want the devil holding fear over us any longer. The devil is the author of fear, but fear is a liar! We were able to stand there, as a family, in awe of how faithful the Lord has been to us. He spared our lives, and we will continue to live every day for Him.”
