Star’s ‘Biggest Award’ from SEAL TEAM? Honoring Veterans
By Movieguide® Contributor
SEAL TEAM may be over, but actor David Boreanaz is thankful for the experience and the way it impacted viewers.
“For me, it’s the realistic, authentic approach that we took the show in,” the actor, who played Jason Hayes, told TV Insider. “The way we examined every episode and every moment, I can’t tell you enough, and I keep repeating this word and I’m sure people hear, it’s authentic.”
More than anything, Boreanaz appreciates that the show honored real-life veterans.
“But when you hear from real veterans and people that are operators and they stop you and they say, thank you for doing what you did, you really have hit the mark as far as showing what not only we do, but what we go through is the biggest award that I could ever imagine to being humble to accept,” he explained.
The series has encouraged veterans to get the help they need.
“We shed [the] light and darkness of these operators: the good, the bad, the balance, and I feel good about that,” Boreanaz said. “What’s great about the show is, it’ll exist forever because of how we shot it and the authenticity of it. We’ll always have that, and I thank fans for allowing us to tell these types of stories.”

SEAL TEAM wrapped in October after seven seasons, and throughout his time as its star, Boreanaz learned to push himself, physically and as an actor and executive producer.
“It’s like, I’ll do that times three after going through a show like this. And that just goes down to consistency, discipline, and efficiency, which is really the military way if you really want to look at it,” he said. “So that, to me, is really what stands out, is giving back and having these people thank me for what they do and what they did. And here I am thanking them. So it’s a real nice give and take.”
CBS announced the show’s end last year, and Boreanaz reflected on its impact in a statement at the time.
“For six seasons I have been fortunate and blessed to be a part of an outstanding cast and crew,” he said. “Every day spent was a note of thanks to our men and women in the military and Special OPS. I thank our fans, and I’m proud we were able to make this show to shine light in the darkness toward so many suffering today. I look forward to season seven and the opportunity to end this series with love and gratitude.”

Movieguide® nominated SEAL TEAM episode 3:15: RULES OF ENGAGEMENT for a Teddy Bear Award®. A portion of its review reads:
“Rules of Engagement” is a dramatic, thrilling, patriotic SEAL TEAM episode. It honors the service and sacrifice American soldiers make while serving their country and making the world a safer place. The episode opposes the chaos and evil that bad groups like Radical Muslim Terrorists, Russia and Communist China spread overseas.
