The Kendrick Brothers Team With Sony AFFIRM for Upcoming Faith-Based Movie

By Movieguide® Staff

The Kendrick Brothers, known for award-winning faith-based movies like WAR ROOM and OVERCOMER, recently announced their latest project, set to hit theaters in August 2024.

The directing duo teamed with Sony’s AFFIRM Films for the new movie, which has yet to release a title or plot details.

“When we got the call, the Kendrick Brothers were ready to share their next story idea, we knew it would be a powerful one — and they delivered. We’re honored to partner with them again on another film that will entertain, challenge and lift up families in a time when so many people need encouragement and renewed hope,” Rich Peluso, executive vice president and Head of AFFIRM Films, told The Christian Post of the project.

“Believers and churches and communities need to be reminded of the beauty and the compassion that they can demonstrate to girls that are in unwanted pregnancies, to the unborn that have no one speaking up for them, to families that will need to step up and demonstrate compassion and concern at every level,” the Kendricks added.

The directing duo acknowledged that the new project with address some “sensitive” topics, but topics that they believe are important to approach with Christian love.

“Sometimes the truth is hard to process, but we’ve got to go there,” Steven Kendrick told the Christian Post. “And so we are now in a position to say that when Scripture says to stand for the innocent and fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, that … God knows us in the womb, and He knows us before we’re born, He knows everything about us, and He values us, for us to stand for the unborn.”

Movieguide®’s review of the Kendrick Brothers’ most recent movie, LIFEMARK, reads:

LIFEMARK is a faith-based drama about an 18-year-old teenager, David, who has tried to hide the fact he’s adopted until his a biological parents try to contact him. One day, David comes home, and his parents who raised him tell him his biological mother wants to meet him. Deciding to meet his birth mother, David hears from his biological father and must decide if he would like to meet him as well. Will David be able to be open with them and listen to what they have to say about giving him up for adoption?

LIFEMARK is a well-made, heartwarming, inspiring movie produced by the Kendrick Brothers and Kirk Cameron, who also stars. The movie is solid throughout, with a positive Christian worldview. The movie promotes relying on God, believing God’s plan, forgiveness, and loving others. There’s also a beautiful pro-life message about adoption, giving life and the value of life. Don’t let the PG-13 rating stop you from seeing this movie. The movie’s themes about abortion and pro-life issues are the reason the Hollywood elites are giving LIFEMARK such a tough rating.
