Top Country Stars to Honor Late Toby Keith in Concert

A two-hour concert special to celebrate the life of late country star Toby Keith will air on NBC this summer.
TOBY KEITH: AMERICAN ICON will feature some of country music’s greatest stars including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Ashley McBryde, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Lainey Wilson and many others. Many artists will cover Keith’s most-loved songs.
“The two-hour concert special will air on NBC on Wednesday, August 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It will be filmed at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. If you’d like to attend in person, tickets will go on sale via Ticketmaster on June 28, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral, a no-cost home for families of ill children, and Vanderbilt’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital,” NBC reported.
Keith died in February after a battle with stomach cancer. Movieguide® reported:
Country singer Toby Keith has died following a battle with stomach cancer. He was 62.
“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time,” a statement on his website reads. Keith first announced his cancer diagnosis in 2022.
Throughout his cancer battle, the “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” singer-songwriter relied on God.
“I lean on my faith and I just pray and lean into it,” he stated. “You gotta’ do what you gotta’ do, and I don’t know how people do it without faith…that’s what I did, it was my rock.”
“Throughout his career, the country music superstar scored 42 top-10 hits, 33 #1’s, 44 million albums sold, 100 million BMI performances and more than 10 billion streams largely on the strength of his own songwriting and producing. His hits included ‘Should’ve Been a Cowboy,’ ‘How Do You Like Me Now?!’ ‘Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue (The Angry American),’ ‘I Love This Bar” and many more,” Deadline reported.
The concert will be produced by UMG Nashville’s Sing Me Back Home Productions and ITV America’s Thinkfactory Media. TOBY KEITH: AMERICAN ICON is promoted by Live Nation.
