Toronto Blue Jays First Baseman Trusts God Amid Trade Rumors

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is helping his team stay afloat during a not-so-great season.

Guerrero “is hitting .293 with 17 home runs and leads the Blue Jays in a variety of categories, including runs (50), hits (113), RBIs (60) and slugging percentage (.479) through Tuesday’s games,” Sports Spectrum reported.

With his stellar performances, there is some talk that he could be traded before Tuesday’s trade cutoff.

Regardless of where the athlete ends up playing, he knows who is directing his life.

“For me, Christ is everything,” Guerrero told CBN Sports at this year’s All-Star weekend “I read the Bible before every game, when I wake up. I pray and read the Bible before bed.”

One piece of Scripture that Guerrero holds onto is Psalms 121.

The chapter begins:

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

Guerrero often mentions his faith on social media. In a new post, he shared what it meant to him to play in another All-Star game.

He wrote, “Making a dream come true is all we were taught to do ?? Thank you GOD and EVERYONE for supporting Me, My Family, and My Career!”

He competed in his first All-Star game in 2021 and gave God the glory then as well.

“Thank you my God, you are the owner of my dream career, so all the time I am on my knee before you,” he wrote (translated from Spanish) on Instagram. “Thank you for all your blessings, you are the MVP, my God thank you, thank you my lord, a dream fulfilled.”

“Dreams come true,” Guerrero said at the time. “Since I was a kid I’ve always been thinking about this moment. I’ve worked all my life, very hard, and thank God it’s happening now.”
