University of Central Florida (UCF) quarterback John Rhys Plumlee trusts God’s plan after suffering a leg injury that will sideline him for several games.

UCF is currently 2-0 this season. Plumlee was injured during the team’s stellar win against Boise State.

In a press conference, Gus Malzahn, head coach for the Knights, said that Plumlee will miss multiple games, but the injury does not require surgery.

Despite his injury, Plumlee fully relies on God to heal him.

“Knights are 2-0! God is good! God has a plan! My God is a healer! I am blessed! I will be back sooner than later,” Plumlee shared on his Instagram.

Not only did he play through a knee injury to finish the game, but he also threw for a career-high 4,000 passing yards.

UCF Football shared on their social media, “4,000 Career Passing Yards. JRP now has 4,120 passing yards after tonight’s win.”

Plumlee commented, “What a blessing!”

Plumlee also plays outfield for UCF’s baseball team and competed in both throughout college.

In a video shared on Instagram, Plumlee tackles a football and baseball game on the same day.

On the baseball field, Plumlee hit a triple to get on base. Then, he took off for the football stadium for the annual spring game, where he later threw a touchdown.

Plumlee said, “That’s how you want to end the day. Take a little base and get over to football.”

Before UCF, the athlete played for Ole Miss, where he also excelled in football and baseball.

Since he moved to UCF, Plumlee has earned AAC offensive player of the week three times, became UCF’s leading rusher in 2022 and “completed 18 of 22 for career-high 373 and 4 TDs and ran 7 for 37 and 3 TDs vs. Temple,” according to UCF Knights stat sheet.

Plumlee’s website shares he “has recently announced his generous initiative to donate all proceeds from his jersey sales this season to the Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Plumlee, known for his exceptional dual-threat capabilities, is not only a talented athlete but also a compassionate individual who is dedicated to making a positive impact in his community.”

Pray for a quick recovery for Plumlee as he does all he can to return to the field, and watch as the UCF Knights take on Villanova this Saturday.
