Why WALLACE & GROMIT Director Thinks Fans Will Love Next Movie

By Movieguide® Contributor

WALLACE & GROMIT: VENGENCE MOST FOUL is on its way to the big screen, and the creators can’t wait for you to see it.

Writer and co-director Nick Park told Movieguide® on the VENGENCE MOST FOWL red carpet what he thinks contributes to the long-term success of the WALLACE AND GROMIT movies.

“I think it’s…partly to do with the clay and the way it’s all hand sculpted, every single frame of film, you know? People can be aware of the artist the animator behind each frame of film. Plus, I think the relationship between these two is key. The comedy and the affection they have but also the way Gromit is more intelligent than his master,” Park laughed. “I think we’re a world of pet lovers, and people relate to that. They read all these things into their own pets and can relate to it.”

Co-director Merlin Crossingham shared a little insight about the film’s villain, Feathers McGraw.

“Feathers McGraw was last seen in 1993’s BAFTA® and Academy Award® winning short THE WRONG TROUSERS, which saw the manipulative and calculating penguin — already a wanted criminal — rent out a room at Wallace and Gromit’s house where he sought to use Wallace’s techno trousers to steal the blue diamond. Rightfully behind bars ever since, he’s now back for revenge,” the BBC reported.

“He wants revenge basically. He was put in prison, or the zoo, 30 years ago, and he’s been stewing there. He wants vengeance and it will be most foul,” Crossingham joked, playing on the words of the title.

A synopsis of the movie reads:

In WALLACE & GROMIT: VENGEANCE MOST FOWL, Gromit’s concern that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions proves justified, when Wallace invents a “smart” gnome that seems to develop a mind of its own. When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister forces and save his master… or Wallace may never be able to invent again!
