GRAVITY stays suspended for a third weekend
|
GRAVITY made more in it’s third weekend than any movie released in August made in its opening weekend. It far outpaced second place MR. PHILLIPS and the horror newcomer CARRIE. CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2 had a respectable showing in its fourth weekend and is nearing the $100 million mark. ESCAPE PLAN rounded out the top five. |

This week Disney released THE FIFTH ESTATE complete with an MPAA rating of R and an LLL from Movieguide®. It died an absolutely horrible death at the box office tarnishing Disney’s image and reducing their box office average. Movies like THE FIFTH ESTATE and THE DELIVERY MAN look so out of place in the schedule of a studio whose reputation was built on family entertainment. |

Disney, was winning the box office average by a wide margin until it released its first LLL movie of 2013, THE FIFTH ESTATE, I bombed worse than THE LONE RANGER. Warner Bros and Sony bring up the rear in box office average with an abundance of foul language. |

The major studios appear to be on a violence binge. In an era when many are calling for gun control, Hollywood appears to be out of control in its love for guns and explosions. |
