ZOOTOPIA 2 again showed its dominance as a family movie by rocketing to the top of streaming charts ahead of its release on Disney+.
After just two days of being available to stream, it became the No. 1 movie on VOD and is the top movie on Apple TV, Amazon and Vudu, Screen Rant reported.
The movie is one of the highest-grossing of 2025. So far, it’s brought in $1.746 billion. It is the second highest-grossing animated movie of all time and the ninth highest-grossing movie ever made.
Its success isn’t surprising.

Part of Movieguide®’s review of the movie reads, “ZOOTOPIA 2 is an action-packed, heartwarming fantasy adventure with loads of laughs and great animation. It has a strong allegorical Christian, moral worldview. It stresses doing the right thing, even if it means sacrificing your life, working together, seeking truth and justice, and overcoming differences through love.”
“However, ZOOTOPIA 2 has a few implied adult jokes, two light profanities, and scary scenes of peril in the movie’s often exciting and comical action scenes. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children. We suggest ages six and above are more appropriate.”
Movieguide® has nominated it for a Teddy Bear Award® as the Best Movie for Children. The Movieguide® Awards Gala is on Feb. 6.
ZOOTOPIA 2 has an audience score of 96% and a 91% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s been nominated for Best Animated Film at the upcoming Oscars and two Golden Globes, Best Motion Picture – Animated and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, and two BAFTA awards, seven Annie Awards and five Visual Effects Society Awards.
It is also the 47th all-time highest-grossing movie in North America, outpacing JURASSIC PARK and THE HUNGER GAMES.
It had the second biggest 10th three-day weekend for Thanksgiving animations, with a hike of 9.3% from last weekend even though it lost 50 theaters on Friday, Koimoi reported.
Disney’s entertainment segment revenue jumped up by 7% in its most recent quarter, thanks to the success of ZOOTOPIA 2 and AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH, Variety reported.
Disney chief Bob Iger said, “We are pleased with the start to our fiscal year, and our achievements reflect the tremendous progress we’ve made. We delivered strong box-office performance in calendar year 2025 with billion-dollar hits like ZOOTOPIA 2 and AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH, franchises that generate value across many of our businesses. As we continue to manage our company for the future, I am incredibly proud of all that we’ve accomplished over the past three years.”
The movie will come to DVD and Blu-ray on March 3. Decider reported ZOOTOPIA 2 will likely be available on Disney+ in mid-March and will probably have another impressive streaming streak when it does.
