EVAN ALMIGHTY is a funny, heartwarming family movie with a thrilling ending that makes up for the movie’s theological mis-steps, such as the important fact that the movie does not make it clear that, when God appears to us in human form, he always appears as Jesus Christ as noted in John 1.

MASTER AND COMMANDER, which is subtitled THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD, is a rousing sea adventure set in 1805, starring Russell Crowe in another fine action role as the captain of a British fighting ship crossing cannons with a French ship serving Napoleon. THAT THING YOU DO - 4/1/2021
THAT THING YOU DO, written and directed by Tom Hanks, documents the rise of fictional band, The Wonders, from Erie, Pennsylvania. It clearly shows all the excitement and challenges of being in a band when rock was young and relatively clean. The Wonders rises to the top of the charts and even a TV appearance in Hollywood. Marred only by a few obscenities, this movie has a mild Christian worldview and demonstrates the struggle between artistic integrity and "selling out."
ARRIVAL - 4/28/2021
ARRIVAL is a very well made, beautifully crafted science fiction movie about coming into contact with aliens who give humans the gift of a new language. SHREK 2, the first sequel to the 2001 animated Oscar-winning hit, has Shrek trying to keep his marriage to Fiona intact, despite an evil plot by Fiona’s underhanded Fairy Godmother. SHREK 2 contains a few inappropriate jokes and a politically correct tone, but it also has a light Christian worldview and many biblical, moral messages showing that magical spells and fairy tale enchantments cannot bring real happiness and extolling forgiveness, repentance, self-sacrifice, thinking of others before yourself, selfless love, honor, valor, and the courage to do the right thing.

ELLA ENCHANTED - 4/1/2021
