ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

In ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE, Manny and Ellie’s daughter, Peaches, has fallen in love with Julian with plans to get married. Manny and Ellie dread the idea of Peaches leaving home. Manny and Ellie’s surprise wedding anniversary party is interrupted by a shower of meteors with an obvious world-destroying meteor apparently headed their way. Will the family survive?

ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE has entertaining moments, but it’s not as good as previous ICE AGE movies. Sadly, it lacks a credible conflict. No amount of corny comedy and rapid paced animation can make up for lack of a compelling story. Boredom can’t be relieved by lots of fast movement. It’s relieved by getting an audience deeply attached to a movie’s characters and their story. COLLISION COURSE is to be commended, however, in the positive way it features a father, mother and child going through a difficult transition. Regrettably, it has several instances of scatological humor. Sid’s mother, Granny, wants to play nude bingo. Also, a llama in ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE comes across as an Eastern mystic, but his “wisdom” is exposed as selfishness.

Content:

(BB, V, MM) Strong moral worldview extolling the importance of marriage and family; no obscenities or profanities, but several instances of scatological humor with mention of poop and butts, plus elder female sloth looks forward to nude bingo; some slapstick violence and some major destruction as meteors strike earth; no sex; no nudity; no alcohol use; no smoking or drug references or jokes; and, some distrust and pride and that get resolved, and a llama comes across as an Eastern religious mystic, but he’s shown to be anything but wise.

More Detail:

ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE brings the cute Ice Age cast back to be endangered by meteors, but lacks the heart and story of the best animated movies. It does promote both marriage and family, but has some scatological humor and some small children may find meteor showers frightening.

In this story, Manny and Ellie’s daughter Peaches has fallen in love with Julian with plans to get married. Manny and Ellie dread the idea of Peaches leaving home. Manny and Ellie’s surprise wedding anniversary party is interrupted by a shower of meteors with an obvious world-destroying meteor apparently headed their way. Will the family survive?

ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE has some entertaining moments but it’s not as good as the previous ICE AGE movies. Sadly, it lacks a credible level of conflict. No amount of corny comedy and rapid paced animation can make up for the lack of a really compelling story. Movies need more substance than a television sitcom with new clever lines for beloved characters. Boredom isn’t relieved by a lot of fast movement. It’s relieved by getting an audience deeply attached to a movie’s characters.

The movie is to be commended, however, in the positive way it features a father, mother and child going through the difficult transition of a child getting married. Like FATHER OF THE BRIDE, this movie deals with how to accept someone who’s come to take your child into their own adult life. Trust must be built. The movie also celebrates marriage

Regrettably, COLLISION COURSE has several instances of scatological humor. For instance, Sid’s mother, Granny, wants to play nude bingo. Finally, there’s a llama that comes across as an Eastern mystic, but his “wisdom” is exposed as selfishness, which is good.
