More Detail:

CHRISTMAS WITH TUCKER is a homespun Christmas story about a boy and his dog. It’s a touching story that builds as it goes along, with strong Christian, moral values.

The story opens with George telling the story about the Christmas that changed his life 10 years ago, when he was 13. Ten years ago, George had just finished spending Thanksgiving with his grandparents in snowy Idaho on their dairy farm. Six months previously, George’s father died in a quirky farm accident. His mother has moved to Minnesota to spend time with his two sisters, who are going to college. His mother and two sisters will travel to be with the family for Christmas, after which George will pack up to live with his mom in Minnesota.

One day, a neighbor with a drinking problem gets arrested and thrown in jail for driving drunk. So, George’s grandfather promises to look after the man’s beautiful golden retriever while he’s away. George and the dog become fast friends, and George names the dog Tucker.

Soon, however, the neighbor comes to take away Tucker. Shortly thereafter, George offers to buy Tucker from the neighbor, but the man says Tucker’s not for sale at any price. The tables turn, however, and the neighbor promises to give Tucker to George, if George does one small favor for him. The problem is, the favor involves George having to break the law by helping the man pick up a couple bottles of whiskey from the local moonshine dealer.

Several plot twists later, George and the neighbor have to learn some hard, but positive lessons about doing the right thing and being a better person.

CHRISTMAS WITH TUCKER takes its time to develop a rich story about moral responsibility and redemption. It’s an excellent movie the whole family can enjoy. In spite of the drama, there’s some good humor. The feel-good ending will melt even the hardest heart.

CHRISTMAS WITH TUCKER has a strong Christian worldview that could have been a little stronger. The story teaches Christian values, with a few positive references to God, including a prayer to the Lord, but neither Jesus nor the Gospel are mentioned overtly. That said, all the values taught in the movie are very morally uplifting, including helping others and doing the right thing. CHRISTMAS WITH TUCKER also stresses the importance of family and the possibility of correcting your mistakes and becoming a better person.
