More Detail:

MARS ATTACKS is the latest creation of the strange, but brilliant Tim Burton who also brought us the first two BATMAN movies. Strange, scary and frequently funny, it is a mixture of philosophies and crazy attitudes as earthlings led by President James Dale, played by Jack Nicholson, figure how to beat the little green men from Mars. An ensemble movie with an all-star cast, MARS ATTACKS features locations in Washington D.C., Las Vegas and the heartland of America. Just like INDEPENDANCE DAY, the president quickly finds out that the earth is surrounded by saucers from space. When the Martians land in Nevada, a hippie sends up a dove, which the Martians fry with their laser guns. The Martians then begin to destroy America. Enter Richie Norris and his Grandmother with a secret musical weapon to combat the Martians and save the world.

MARS ATTACKS goes for constant laughs. All of the situations set up comic dialogue. MARS ATTACKS is not for small children. It has lots of action violence including explosions, and many people are vaporized by the Martians. Some of the good people are even killed. There are also a mixture of philosophies and world views. A little disjointed and not quite a thrill-a-minute like INDEPENDANCE DAY, it nevertheless serves up lots of fun visuals and lots of laughs.
