PAIN & GAIN is heavily laced with more than 200 obscenities, graphic violence, sexual references, extreme nudity, drugs, and alcohol abuse, all played for laughs. In a sick way, the movie shows just how foolish mankind can be when consumed with pride, envy, jealousy, lust, and greed.

(PaPaPa, ABABAB, Ho, LLL, VVV, SS, NNN, AA, DDD, MMM) A grossly pagan worldview heavy on greed, envy, lust, and pride, a major character considers himself Christian while engaged in heinous behavior, jokes are made about his Christianity, and he thinks he can lead a bound and blindfolded Jewish hostage to Jesus Christ, but the hostage allows himself to be “led” just to stay alive, plus some homosexual references; at least 220 obscenities (including many “f” words), six strong profanities, and 10 light profanities; horrible violence and attempted repeated attempted murder of a kidnapping victim, actual murder and dismemberment of two other kidnapping victims; the victim’s hands and feet are cooked on a barbecue to eliminate their fingerprints, and additional violence in police chases; strong sexual content including much crude dialogue, a scene of fornication with no explicit nudity, reference to self-abuse, strippers, pole dancers; graphic sex toys, upper and rear male nudity, shot of exposed female pubic hair, women in revealing bikinis, and upper male nudity; alcohol use, drunkenness, and criminals get a murder victim drunk; one man smokes cigar, scenes of snorting cocaine, steroid use in one scene, man takes painkillers with alcohol, and woman accidentally killed by horse tranquilizer used to sedate her; and, very strong miscellaneous immorality includes kidnapping, theft, dishonesty, pride, jealousy, envy, robbery, verbal abuse.

PAIN & GAIN is a shockingly vile, comic telling of a true story of Miami body builders who decide to get rich by kidnapping wealthy people. It is absolutely astounding that Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Michael Bay were involved in the production of anything so depraved.
The movie opens with Wahlberg being chased by police. It then jumps back to Wahlberg working as a trainer in a gym. Obsessed with his physique, he feels he is treated with no respect by wealthy clients he trains. After hearing a horrid self-help guru push people to become “doers,” he plans to kidnap a wealthy client with the help of two equally buffed comrades (Dwayne Jonson and Anthony Mackie).
The trio bungles the kidnapping several times and fails in three attempts to kill their hostage. This is some of the sickest “humor” ever filmed. Their Jewish subject is tortured, robbed, forced to sign away his fortune, and at one point virtually forced to accept Jesus as Lord. Johnson plays an ex-con and drug addict who thinks he’s Christian.
The movie is heavily laced with abundant obscenities, violence, sex, nudity, drugs and alcohol all played for laughs. At the end of the movie, you are shown the actual men who committed these crimes. In a sick way, the movie shows just how foolish mankind can be when consumed with pride, jealousy, lust, and greed.
PAIN & GAIN stands as yet another monument to how low some filmmakers are willing to go. The fact that some Americans will actually buy tickets to this trash says something about how low some lost people are willing to go. Brutal kidnapping and murder is not entertainment. Americans need to encourage America’s major studios to be more responsible. In the 1930s, public pressure had a profound influence in Hollywood. The Motion Picture Code was enforced and helped restrain the studios from making filth like PAIN & GAIN.
While the movie has some production values, it deserves nothing but condemnation. All involved in making the movie need our prayers. God loves the people who made this movie, but their work deserves rebuke.
