ONE DAY AT DISNEY is a documentary movie about what it’s like working for Disney Studios, as 10 employees with vastly different jobs discuss their experiences. ONE DAY AT DISNEY is very entertaining and the documentary covers a multitude of jobs through Disney, which gives the audience insight to the many exciting jobs. ONE DAY AT DISNEY has light moral, redemptive elements promoting hope, friendship, optimism, sacrifice, and the power of imagination, but light politically references to one employee’s homosexuality warrant caution for older children and adults.
The documentary begins by explaining the origins of the Disney company founded by Walt Disney. Walt Disney’s dream “started with the mouse,” and expanded into multiple worldwide parks, movies, TV programs, and Broadway musicals.
The first man interviewed is Bob Iger, the former CEO and Chairman of the Disney company. He talks about his experience working at Disney and how the first movie he attended was CINDERELLA. Another man interviewed is Eric Goldberg, an animator for Disney movies. His first big breakthrough was animating the genie in ALADDIN. Goldberg discusses the everchanging business of animation.
In addition, a Disneyland conductor discusses what it’s like working in the park and how he gets to make children smile. Broadcast anchor Robin Roberts of GOOD MORNING AMERICA is interviewed about working through ABC-TV, the television network owned by Disney. She talks about her major milestones with the company and its support when she was diagnosed with cancer.
Six more individuals are interviewed about their experiences working for Disney and the specifics of their jobs. Those jobs include a sculptor, robot engineer, picture book animator, production set designer, animal kingdom vet, and a member of the LION KING musical cast. Each person has an inspiring story and expresses enthusiasm about his job.
