Fans shared their excitement after Warner Bros. announced the official April 12, 2024 release date for their original anime feature THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM.

The movie, based on author J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary masterpiece “The Lord of the Rings,” will reportedly include stylistic nods to Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning movies.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich told Variety: “The ‘Lord of the Rings’ films took Tolkien’s masterwork to new cinematic heights and inspired a generation. It’s a gift to be able to revisit Middle-earth with many of the same creative visionaries and the talented [director] Kenji Kamiyama at the helm. This will be an epic portrayal unlike anything audiences have ever seen.”

Movieguide® previously reported:

Movieguide® previously honored Peter Jackson’s original trilogy at the Movieguide® Awards for his emphasis on the Christian themes found in J.R.R. Tolkien’s original book.

Regrettably, Movieguide® often warns audiences about the genre of anime due to it often containing a pagan or occult worldview originating from Japan.

Movieguide® hopes THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF ROHIRRIM will adhere to the worldview, morals and values that helped the original trilogy become one of the most popular franchises in entertainment history.

Amazon Prime Video’s hotly anticipated live-action series, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER, adds to the to the Tolkien fervor this year.

The separate project, set thousands of years before Peter Jackson’s movies, will premiere exclusively on Amazon’s streaming service in September 2022.
