AMERICAN IDOL Winner Jordin Sparks, Other Popular Alums to Return for Massive Anniversary Celebration

AMERICAN IDOL is bringing back plenty of alums for their 20th birthday celebration.

The singing competition show will welcome back old friends like Ruben Studdard, Jordin Sparks, Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, David Cook, Kris Allen, Laine Hardy, Laci Kaye Booth, Maddie Poppe, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Willie Spence, and Grace Kinstler.

The former contestants will pair up to perform together.

“It’s a testament to this show’s incredible legacy that we are able to celebrate 20 years of AMERICAN IDOL in this extraordinary way,” said showrunner and executive producer Megan Michaels Wolflick. “We are so thrilled to welcome back some of our most beloved alumni from over the years to reunite on the Idol stage. AMERICAN IDOL continues to create superstars just as it has done since 2002 and bringing back these Idol Icons is the perfect way to herald the next generation.”

AMERICAN IDOL has been the launching pad for many Christian artists, including Danny Gokey, Lauren Daigle, Tori Kelly, Colton Dixon, Mandisa, and Clark Beckham.

Sparks has gone on from the show to make several popular songs, and even recommitted her life to Christ after her time on AMERICAN IDOL.

As Movieguide® reported:

“Before giving my life fully to God, my life and my heart was only half in it,” she shared on Facebook. “I was lukewarm, which is pretty much the worst thing that you can do.

“After a while, my behavior made me feel like a zombie and I wasn’t sure of who I was and that wasn’t working for me. And it wasn’t until I was completely broken and torn that Jesus poured his love on me,” she added. “My life has changed dramatically and though I may still struggle with many things…they are getting better. I am different in so many ways such as having a peace that I have never had before in my entire life and a joy that nobody can take away.

“I want to encourage you to trust God with your life. He’s been so faithful to me and never abandoned me,” she continued. “I know He will do the same for you.”

In addition to her music career, Sparks also branched into acting.

Movieguide® also reported on her role in Hallmark movie A CHRISTMAS TREASURE:

Sparks speaks on her excitement to be apart of Hallmarks Countdown to Christmas movie selection.

“Christmas is so special to me and I’m thrilled that I get to share this festive movie with you all this year,” said Sparks. “I loved being able to perform some of my favorite Christmas melodies, one for the first time, as part of the movie. Joining the Hallmark family is a dream come true! I know people are going to fall in love with Lou and our story that truly represents the phrase, ‘Home is where the Heart is.’”

Sparks will also cover classic Christmas songs along with her original song “Oh, It’s Christmas”.

The latest AMERICAN IDOL auditions have also brought in several contestants who have used their performances to honor Christ.
