‘Who Is That?’: 11-Year-Old Brings AGT Judges to Their Feet With ‘Amazing Grace’

By Movieguide® Contributor

11 year-old Madison Baez Taylor wowed the judges and audience of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT with her singing, earning the Golden Buzzer after her impressive performance.

While filming the talent show, the audience members get the chance to jump onstage and sing during commercial breaks. Taylor, a contestant who got to trick the judges, went up and sang “Amazing Grace.”

The judges were shocked by her talent.

Howie Mandel turned around in his chair to get a better look, while Simon Cowell came back in from a side room after hearing the 11 year-old’s powerful voice.

“We do ask people in the breaks if they’d like to sing a song and I was literally just coming back in and I heard this voice, thinking, ‘Who…is that?’” Cowell said. “And then I see this little thing in the audience and it’s you.”

Taylor is a huge fan of the show and has been dreaming of competing on the show for years.

“I’ve been to many tapings, and ever since I was 4 years old, I would always try and sing for the commercial breaks,” the talented youngster said. “And it’s always been my dream to be on the show. And I’m finally here.”

After the judges were let in on the trick, Taylor climbed on stage and sang not one, but two verses of the classic hymn.

Mandel leapt from his seat and walked to the middle of the judges’ panel where he rang the Golden Buzzer, sending the pre-teen straight to the live shows.

Taylor has big plans for the $1 million prize money if she does end up winning.

“I would help my dad with cancer research,” she shared. “He’s had stage four colon cancer for the past nine years.”

“I’ve been battling cancer for the last nine years, and that’s how she learned to sing,” her dad added. “She would sing to me at the hospital throughout my surgeries, throughout my chemo treatments. She’d sing to me and helping me get better, and I’m doing very well.”
