Danica McKellar Says Faith Sustained Her Through Grief: ‘The Holy Spirit Has Been With Me’

Danica McKellar recently opened up about how her new-found faith has helped her through the death of a loved one.

“I’ll be honest; it’s been a super rough time over here with a sudden and unexpected death in the family,” McKellar said in an Instagram caption. “But we are hanging in there. Life hits us all with challenges of all sorts at various times. Just remember that we are not alone. Love and comfort are just one breath away.”

Her caption continued:

No matter what you are going through, let us greet the new week with excitement and a sense of adventure that comes from inviting new experiences and opportunities to love and serve others. Find all of that in your BREATH, because that’s how you connect to Spirit. I have had moments of joy amisdt this tragedy, absolutely because of connection to God. I used to be uncomfortable with the term Holy Spirit, and used to think of it as Universal Love. At the end of the day, those are all just words with biases we’ve created in our heads based on religion. But I can tell you, the Holy Spirit has been in me and with me through this difficult time and I’m just so grateful.

“Hey everyone! I went live today to share the journey I’ve recently embarked on,” she captioned a lengthy video post. “I’m not here to preach, but I have so much love in my heart I just had to share what I’m experiencing, and to share a little why I believe it’s taken me up to this point to begin this journey.”

McKellar’s post continued:

In my life, starting in childhood, I had been made aware of all the hypocrisy in the various religions of Christianity, it being used for evil, power & control throughout history, and that had definitely biased me. But that’s just people, that doesn’t represent God’s actual love for us. And I can tell you I’m experiencing a relationship with God and Jesus that I’ve never had before, and it feels miraculous. And it all started one evening when I was struggling with the idea of forgiveness and DM’d my good friend @candacecbure about a passage from the Bible she had read on her instastories, and then she sent me a Bible, and invited me to church… I am wishing all of you the love & freedom I feel in my heart on this journey, and a beautiful Sunday!!
