MLB Star Brandon Nimmo Wants To Show Christ As Leader of Team

Baseball, like any other sport, can be full of highs and lows. However, New York Mets’ outfielder Brandon Nimmo, knows that being strong spiritually will help him through it all.
Nimmo told CBN News, “Baseball is a game of failure, so you’re going to have ups and downs. You’re going to be upset about your failures. This is how Jesus would want you to act, you know? How I just conduct myself on an everyday basis of trying to have more patience and be slow to anger. Learn from the Bible and what it teaches us. I think it helps deal with the failure of baseball in a much healthier way.”
However, whether Nimmo is on the mountain top or in the valley, his main goal is to serve and love others.
“Sometimes I find in this life we’re going so fast, we forget that we’re placed on this earth in order to help each other,” Nimmo told CBN. “The ultimate sacrifice was Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. He made the greatest example by showing us that true love and true purpose down here is sacrifice. What did Jesus do in this situation and how can I try and be better and be more like Him? Those little moments can make the biggest impacts.”
Nimmo is very grateful for the Mets as the organization decided to sign him to an eight-year contract.
At first, Nimmo wasn’t performing the way her knew he could perform. He knew that he was capable of more.
Nimmo told SNY in an interview, “I knew it was inside of me. The Mets have been patient with me throughout my career and allowed me the opportunities to become better and I’ve tried to take advantage of those and this is just another aspect that I was trying to add to my game, so [I’m] very happy that we’re getting some results.”
Now Nimmo is just five home runs short from setting a new career high and he is on track to hit a new career best in RBIs.
Sports Spectrum reported, “Nimmo ranks second on the team with a .276 batting average, third in RBIs (41), first in on-base percentage (.373) and first in total bases (150). Never known for his power, the former first-round draft pick hit double-digit home runs only twice in his first seven big league seasons, all with the Mets.”
Additionally, SNY shared a video of Mets manager, Buck Showalter giving Nimmo high praise.
Showalter stated, “He’s been a guy through thick and thin that has always seemed to deliver what we’re in need of, so we’re proud of the year he’s having.”
As the Mets finish out their season, Brandon Nimmo will continue to strive to lead his team on and off the field.
