Luke Bryan Hits the Stage Again After Illness: ‘Great to Be Back’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Country star Luke Bryan is back on stage after losing his voice.

Movieguide® previously reported that the singer had to cancel some of his performances due to sickness.

“Bryan had struggled with a ‘head cold’ and canceled shows in Washington, Utah and Idaho. The country star was also scheduled to perform at the Waterline Festival in George, Washington, but was unable to due to illness.”

Luke Bryan had shared his disappointment in an Instagram story. “This is such a frustrating weekend. ‘Shedders, I am sorry to let you down, but I am not back singing – can hardly even talk still.”

Now, Bryan has shared that he is “one the mend” and performing again.

“Great to be back last night. Thanks for showing up and singing along. See you tonight, Indianapolis!” he said in a recent Instagram photo.

“Bryan’s return to the stage comes after his sold-out Nashville concert where he powered through the show to deliver the best show possible despite experiencing vocal issues. At one point during the show, he shifted to an acoustic set to allow his vocal cords somewhat of a rest,” Country Now reported.

Bryan first canceled his August 13 show in Brandon, Mississippi.

He shared his disappointment on social media at the time.  “Dear Brandon, MS I am regretfully going to have to cancel my show there tonight. Under doctor’s advice after taking 6 days off to heal. I attempted to sing at both shows Thursday and Saturday and it was a struggle.  Every show I sing I’m setting my voice back. I will continue to do everything I can to get better. Please know how much you mean to me and how heartbreaking this is to do.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Bryan:

Country singer Luke Bryan says his sons are unimpressed by his superstar status.

“To them, I’m just Dad,” he told People. “I never will forget for Father’s Day, my 15-year-old, he goes, ‘Happy Father’s Day, Dad, to the guy that has more fun than anybody.’ I loved that quote.”

Bryan shares sons Bo, 15, and Tate, 13, with his wife Caroline.

The singer did say that the boys are starting to get a little more interested in his career.

“I mean, they totally understand it now when they start Googling Dad’s accomplishments and reading all the chatter about what the net worth of all this is, and you have to sit down and really clarify a lot of stuff with them,” Bryan said.
