CeCe Winans on Faith: ‘We Serve a God Who Specializes in the Impossible’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Gospel singer CeCe Winans shared a story about her brother to illustrate why her faith is unshakable.

“We serve a God who specializes in the impossible,” Winans told TBN. “I remember being in the hospital, and my brother Ronald was on the operating table, and the doctors came in and said, ‘We lost Ronald.’ And my father said, ‘Well, can we pray for you, and you got back in and give it another try?’ And the doctor looked at us and said, ‘Hey, if you want to.’ And we all began to pray.”

“My father laid hands on the doctor, and he went into the operating room, and the next thing we heard, Ronald was in recovery,” she continued. “So, we lost him, but the God that specializes in the impossible brought him back. And, so, if God can raise the dead, He can handle anything that you’re going through; anything that you’ve been through; He can handle what you’re facing right now, and He knows what’s happening in the future.”

“So you can release your faith and believe. He responds to our faith,” Winans added. “God responds to our faith. So don’t be nervous, believe and God will show up and do what only He can do.”

Winans’ implausible story of healing is a wonderful reminder that we serve the same God of the Bible. He is still present and moving, and the miracles He worked thousands of years ago still happen today. With faith as small as a mustard seed, we can still move mountains today. We just need to believe that God will show up.

Therefore, as Winans says, we can invite God into our struggles and know He will be working in them and through them. He might not act in the way we would expect or even hope, but we can rest knowing that He works all things for His glory.

Coming face to face with God’s power in such an intimate way has fueled Winans’ music career, and she’s shared the Gospel with millions. During her long career, Winans has performed at the Movieguide® Awards, through which she celebrated the impact of Christianity on the entertainment world.

This year’s 31st annual Movieguide® Awards will take place on Feb. 9.

Gospel singer CeCe Winans is encouraging Christians to stand firm in their faith and continue to pursue the Lord even when it’s uncomfortable.

“This is a process, and basically, we all have to get comfortable with not knowing,” Winans said on “Better Together on TBN.” “We have to learn to embrace letting go. And that’s continuing. It never stops because for the rest of our lives, until Jesus returns, I think we get up wanting to be in control. And that’s why we have to take up our cross daily.”

“I don’t think it’s anything that you arrive at as long as we’re in this body,” she added. “I think the process is getting comfortable with letting go, and our flesh never gets comfortable with that, but our spirits, as we mature in the spirit, you understand that it’s always better to go. But it’s something you always have to fight for. It doesn’t automatically happen no matter how old you get, no matter how long you’ve been walking the Lord.”
