Why This Influencer Loves ‘Dusty Bibles’

Christian artist Josiah Queen just released “Dusty Bibles” in July, and it’s safe to say that influencer and comedian Lindsey Gurk is a fan.

“Love this song! It’s “Dusty Bibles” by @josiahqueenmusic,” Gurk wrote in a video of herself singing the song while putting socks on.

The influencer, really getting into the moment, slapped her sock on the counter as she jammed to the meaning-filled hit.

Movieguide® previously reported on Gurk, “Gurk frequently shares her faith in her social media videos. During a recent appearance on the “Whoa That’s Good” podcast, she said, “I just want people to know that love, because His love changes everything. It’s not about what you do…He guides you in what you’re supposed to do.”

Some of the lyrics from Queen’s new song are:

We got dust on our Bibles

Brand new iPhones

No wonder why we feel this way

Hey, how you been?

It’s been a while and I’m just checking in

I miss the way things used to be back in 2017

And I just miss my friend

Queen commented on Gurk’s video, “The sock slap is what the song needed.”

It’s easy to see why Gurk, a passionate believer who enjoys singing, loves Queen’s new song. It’s something that many of us, Christian or not, can relate to.

In a video of Queen singing the song at one of his concerts, he mentioned that he never expected the song to be as well-received as it has been since its release.

“I almost didn’t release this song but God had other plans,” he said.

To emphasize one of the main points in his song, he wrote in another video, “What is the problem with our generation?” and threw a smartphone on the ground.

“Josiah doesn’t yell and he doesn’t shame. Instead, his words gently lead us to remember who we were before the world pulled us away. Like the prodigal son in Luke 15, we are invited to “come to our senses” and return to the Father—not in fear, but in love. The song is a tender nudge to return to the rhythms of grace we’ve abandoned,” Christian Family Radio’s Larry Castro wrote.

Queen also said of the song, “Poured my heart and soul into this one. It’s a journey into the presence of God,” and “Wrote this one after doomscrolling for an hour. This might be the most honest song I’ve ever dropped.”

He previously said, “There’s this hunger for truth. Even among people who don’t go to church. They’re tired of being sold something.”

“They want what’s real. And I think people are starting to see that Jesus isn’t just a fairytale,” he said of his music. “There’s something here that actually holds up.”

The young artist will release more new songs in his sophomore album, Mt. Zion, which comes out on Friday, Aug. 22.
