Erika Kirk’s recent words of forgiveness for the person who killed her husband inspired actor Tim Allen to forgive his own father’s killer.

“When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: ‘That man…that young man…I forgive him,’” Allen posted on X. “That moment deeply affected me. I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: ‘I forgive the man who killed my father.’ Peace be with you all.”

His post has received over 12.3 million views.

Allen was referring to Kirk’s recent speech at her husband’s memorial service, held in Glendale, Arizona, last week.

“My husband, Charlie, he wanted to save young men just like the one who took his life,” she said to the crowd. “That young man. That young man on the cross, our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.’ That man, that young man, I forgive him. I forgive him, because it was what Christ did, and is what Charlie would do. The answer to hate is not hate.”

Kirk continued, “The answer we know from the gospel is love, and always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.”

The HOME IMPROVEMENT actor has previously spoken about his father’s death. During an episode of “The Way I Heard It With Mike Rowe,” Allen shared, “My father was killed by a drunk driver when I was 11-years-old.”

“Luckily he was the only one killed, but he died in my mother’s lap, my other two brothers were thrown around the car, a lot of kids were hurt,” he continued. “The pain of it never stopped.”

Allen isn’t the only person who has felt inspired by Kirk’s grace during this time. Actor Lorenzo Lamas told Fox News he has “so much respect” for Kirk after seeing how she has handled this tragedy.

“It’s beyond anything that I’ve witnessed in my 67 years of being on this planet,” he said. “The absolute grace and intelligence. Forgiveness, which all comes from that moral compass, from that faith, from that understanding that no matter what happens in our life, we can give it to God.”

Lamas continued, “The fact that Erika has been able to show such restraint and intelligence and grace in the taking of the man that she was going to spend the rest of her life with, the father of her kids…there’s no amount of sorrow, there’s no amount of forgiveness that I can muster to acknowledge the horrific event that took place. And she’s done more than I could ever imagine a human being able to do.”

Kirk’s message of forgiveness and love towards her husband’s killer has been an inspiration to many around the world.
