Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Tommy Edman spoke with CBN Sports about what his faith in Jesus Christ means to him.
“Yeah, He’s my Lord and Savior,” Edman declared. “You know, He’s not only that, He’s also my teacher. You know, I try to study scripture each day, and kind of learn more about Jesus every day, and kind of model my life after Him.
“And you know, my performance in the game or whatever is happening isn’t my identity, but rather, you know, as a disciple of Jesus, so you know that’s definitely the foundation of my life. And it kind of makes me who I am,” he added.
In 2024 and 2025, Edman helped lead the Dodgers to the World Series. In 2024 he was named the World Series MVP.

According to Sports Spectrum, Edman was “batting .341 in the playoffs (.407 in the NLCS) and has recorded a hit in nine of 11 postseason games (including all six games of the NLCS).”
After the Dodgers won the NLCS and were headed to the World Series, Edman expressed what it felt like and how his faith played a huge role in getting there.
“God is just so good,” he shared. “After the way the season started, to end up in this situation today is crazy. I’ve got an amazing team. They just welcomed me with open arms and I can’t wait to keep it going.”
In 2023, Edman joined the Sports Spectrum podcast and talked about his identity.
“Having your identity in your faith, and in who you are, and with Jesus, is way more important than your success on the baseball field,” Edman told Sports Spectrum. “… What it really means to be all in for Jesus is it’s something that can definitely transform you.
“I think the more I spend time with Jesus and abide in Jesus, hopefully the more I become like Him,” he continued before adding, “and the more natural it becomes.”
Edman faced two right ankle sprains this past season which has unfortunately required him to have surgery next week.
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes told MLB reporters, “This was clearly bothering him for a while. He’s so tough and went out there and kept just posting for us, and obviously played great for us. So I think it’ll be good to get it addressed, and then that way he can kind of have this behind him.”
Edman and the Dodgers are currently in their off-season celebrating their World Series win, spending much needed time away with their families, and taking care of injuries that occured in mid-season.
