For Patrick Schwarzenegger, being “a man of faith” has helped him navigate the pitfalls of Hollywood.
“I’m here on this earth for a greater purpose and greater meaning than just working in acting,” the actor told Variety while attending the Sundance Film Festival. “The film industry is a roller coaster. I’ve seen it firsthand with my own family members, with friends. What’s really important is that as you go up, down, whichever way you go, your faith is still there.”
The actor shared that something that helps him keep from getting overwhelmed by a “hurting world” is his practice of praying daily with wife, model Abby Champion.

“My prayers are something that helped me each and every day in my life,” Schwarzenegger said. “It’s something that helps me and my wife. We do it together. I think there was some crazy stat of husband and wives that pray together have a 67% less likely to get divorced or separated.”
He continued, “It’s something that is a center point for my faith and gratitude…it’s a refreshing moment for me in my day.”
Schwarzenegger has previously mentioned the importance of his Christian faith, telling C Magazine in a 2025 interview that his “core values” are “family, faith, fiancée and friends. The four Fs.”
The WHITE LOTUS actor recently discussed the conveniences and difficulties that come from having famous parents; his dad is TERMINATOR star Arnold Schwarzenegger, while his mother is journalist and author Maria Shriver.
“I think this idea of when you have successful parents — like I do with you and with mom, or anybody else out there that’s trying to be an actor that’s kind of in those shoes — there’s an added level of, I think, what other people think,” he explained during a conversation with his father for Variety’s “Actors On Actors” series.
While Schwarzenegger acknowledged his last name certainly made things easier, he shared that his father’s work ethic is what has continued to inspire him, both as an actor and person.
“One of the biggest advices that you always give us kids is to work hard, and I feel like I’ve tried to honor that by working as hard as I can, whether it’s classes or school or doing other things to try to better myself as an actor — and as a human,” he said. “But, that’s always been my focus, is just trying to become the best that I can at that.”
For Schwarzenegger, relying on his foundations of faith and family have helped him make his way through the entertainment industry.
