‘All About Family’: Al Roker ‘Excited’ for First Christmas as a Grandparent

Al Roker is ready to celebrate his first Christmas as a grandparent!
“You know, there’s a new grandbaby. So that’s kind of exciting,” Roker told PEOPLE. “It’s gonna be a different kind of Christmas. So, very excited.”
Roker will celebrate the holiday with Sky, 6 months, and her parents, Courtney Roker and husband Wesley Laga.
“I think for us it’s really just family,” Roker’s wife Deborah said of the upcoming holiday. “It’s really all about family and our family is so spread out that we don’t have to gather as much as we’d like to during the year. So this year it really is just about tight-knit.”
The family also recently celebrated Thanksgiving together.
“My little Sky’s first @macys #thanksgivingdayparade,” Roker captioned a picture of himself, Deborah, son Nick, Courtney, Wesley and Sky.
The TODAY anchor often talks about Sky and how excited he is to be her grandfather.
“It’s magical. It really is,” he said on TODAY shortly after her birth. “Everybody tells you that it’s going to be this thing and you don’t know — it’s like when they tell you about having our first child.”
Roker continued, “And then, to hold this little girl knowing that 30, almost 35 years ago, I held her mom. And here she is…and she’s just perfect.”

Al Roker is going to be a grandpa!
The TODAY show star’s daughter, Courtney, recently took to Instagram to announce her pregnancy. She shared a video of herself and husband Wesley Laga, set to Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby.”
“A new adventure is about to begin,” she captioned the video, which featured family photos and videos, as well as an ultrasound of the baby.
In a statement about the pregnancy, Courtney shared, “We are extremely excited to welcome a new member into our family and start this next chapter in our lives. We feel truly blessed and excited for our little miracle.”
