Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman to Join Cast of PADDINGTON 3

By Movieguide® Staff

Hollywood stars Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman, Rachel Zegler and Emily Mortimer are expected to join the cast of the upcoming PADDINGTON movie, PADDINGTON IN PERU.

PADDINGTON IN PERU is the third movie in the live-action/cgi-animated franchise based on Michael Bond’s iconic children’s book.

Already confirmed cast members include Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin; with the voices of Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton as Paddington and Aunt Lucy, respectively.

According to Variety, the story will follow Paddington’s return to Peru from London to visit his Aunt Lucy. However, this time Paddington’s family, the Browns, are set to join him on his adventure to his home of South America.

Banderas and Colman previously starred in Movieguide® Award-winning movie, PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH

Movieguide® recognized both PADDINGTON and PADDINGTON 2 for their strong pro-family themes, and family-friendly content.

A portion of Movieguide®’s review of PADDINGTON 2 reads

PADDINGTON 2 is an adorable, entertaining movie filled with family fun. It has a great script, with wonderful acting and animation. PADDINGTON 2 has a strong moral worldview, with strong pro-capitalist elements. No matter what, Paddington tries to do the right thing, with the right attitude. He is a fabulous character for children to see, because he’s always loving, compassionate, giving of himself, and super polite. The entire message is about loving your neighbor and seeing the good in everyone. MOVIEGUIDE® commends PADDINGTON 2 for the entire family.

For PADDINGTON IN PERU, production announced a change in leadership as director Paul King passed the torch to Dougal Wilson.

King previously said of the change:  “After ten years of working on the Paddington movies, I feel absurdly protective of the little bear, and I’m delighted that Dougal will be there to hold his paw as he embarks on his third big-screen adventure. Dougal’s work is never less than astounding: funny, beautiful, heartfelt, imaginative, and totally original. Aunt Lucy once asked us to ‘Please Look After This Bear.’ I know Dougal will do so admirably.”

Wilson added: “As a huge fan of the first two films, I am very excited (if not a little intimidated) to be continuing the story of Paddington. It’s a massive responsibility, but all my efforts will be focussed on making a third film that honours the love so many people have for this very special bear.”

If Wilson wants to replicate the success of the first two movies, Movieguide® advises that he continues to champion moral values and family-friendly content.
