Candace Cameron Bure reminds us that you can have purpose without finding success.
“Because younger people are becoming successful faster — people even younger are finding fame, are finding a calling, are getting instant gratification and success in things that they’re doing,” Bure said in a recent episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast.” “But I think that can fuel a lot of the other people that aren’t finding it quickly because they feel like, ‘Oh, then what is my purpose if I’m not becoming famous, or I didn’t create a technology that took off right away and I’m a billionaire all of a sudden?’”
She reminded listeners, “The good news is, you don’t have to do all of that to have purpose.”
The FULL HOUSE star has previously spoken about her own purpose. During an episode of THE LUCAS MILES SHOW, Bure shared, “The truth is: you have to know who you are. You have to know whose you are. You have to know that before you walk out into the world, because the world is going to try to tell you what it thinks you should be.”

“When I think of my purpose, I’m thinking about my life purpose. My life purpose as a Christian is to glorify God in all I do,” she said. “I wasn’t put on the earth to be the best actress I can be. My purpose is to glorify God, but God gave me a talent and I get to use those talents…to produce content that can turn back and glorify God.”
The Great American Family star recently celebrated her 50th birthday with a surprise celebration from her family.
“I have, I think, a surprise on my birthday,” she told Us Weekly before her big day. “On Monday, my husband’s planning something for me, and all the kids will be here. But I have no idea what we’re doing.”
Bure continued, “I don’t mind surprises. It’s so funny because there were parts of me that were like, ‘Yeah, plan whatever you guys want.’ And then my brain kicks in and I’m like, ‘Well, let me see what you’re doing. Let me put my fingerprint on that one.’ But as far as my birthday goes with my family, I really have no idea what we’re doing.”
She also spoke about how special it was to celebrate her birthday and Easter weekend together.
“It’s such a special weekend,” Bure said. “I mean, Easter and the resurrection is absolutely everything in the Christian faith. I know that we talk about Christmas all the time because of the Christmas movies, and the reason for the season and the Savior is born. However, the resurrection is what sets God and Jesus apart from any other God that’s out there, because he lives. He is risen and he is alive.”
Bure’s words are a reminder that true success comes from finding your purpose and following it through.
