Sibling gospel singers CeCe and BeBe Winans know their relationship with Jesus keeps their music careers going strong.
“You navigate biblical truth by continuing to spend time in the Bible. It’s a contagion,” CeCe told the Christian Post of some wisdom she’s learned through her decades-long career. “You never arrive. You just continue to learn about Jesus and allow Him to mold you and shape you so that we can look like Him.”
She added, “It’s an ongoing relationship with Christ that keeps you focused, helps you not to grow weary in doing well, and to make sure that your life pleases Him. Then your music will follow.”
CeCe has won numerous awards throughout her time as a gospel artist, including 17 Grammys. Recently, she and BeBe were granted the huge honor of hosting the upcoming Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
“I’m humbled by it, but the Stellar Awards…gave us a chance,” she said. “Years and years ago, they opened up doors for us. So to be back and to be recognized by our peers is an honor.”
The Stellar Awards Instagram account recently announced the exciting news.
“🚨 BIG NEWS! 🚨 The 40th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards is bringing the celebration back to Music City — and you don’t want to miss this lineup! 🎤🙌🏾” the Awards posted. “🎙️ Your Hosts: The iconic sibling duo @bebewinans & @CeCeWinans are taking the stage to lead us through a night of Gospel greatness!”
Fans in the comment section expressed their excitement. “All I know is BeBe & CeCe better give us a surprise performance 😂🔥🔥🔥” one person said. Another user added, “Wow…I’m super excited about this. To God be all the glory 🙏🏽🙌🏼🏆✨🎤 🎶”
BeBe is grateful for the opportunity.
“I think with time comes not only appreciation, but understanding of what you’ve been called to do,” he told the Christian Post. “You come into a maturity, such a place in your life, where you understand the importance of what you do, and that God has a plan for you for the rest of your life. And you just learn how to say ‘yes’ and follow.”
CeCe said that they pray their role at the Stellar Awards brings people to Christ.
“Our prayer, and I’m sure I can speak for BeBe, is the same as it’s always been,” she emphasized. “That gospel music will continue to spread and to reach those who are outside of the church, to bring them in. That’s the whole goal: to reach people for Christ, to reach them with the love of God, the peace of God.”
The 40th annual Stellar Awards will take place Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
